Coil Resonant Frequency Calculator
Calculate the resonant frequency of a Tesla coil with the Coil Resonant Frequency Calculator, and learn how with the integrated live example
The Coil Resonant Frequency Calculator combines the features of the Coil Capacitance Calculator, the Coil Inductance Calculator, and the Resonant Frequency Calculator to calculate the resonant frequency of an air-core single-layer solenoid coil, or Tesla coil, from the coil length, diameter and number of turns. Visit those calculator pages for more details on how to calculate each factor.
The actual measured frequency in the real world may be slightly different than the calculated value because factors like the wire insulation, the coil frame, objects in the environment around the coil etc. all add to the burden or parasitic capacitance of the coil, which has the effect of bringing the resonant frequency of the coil down.
Using the Coil Resonant Frequency Calculator
Coil Length: Enter the coil length, measured as depicted in the diagram above
Coil Diameter: Enter the coil diameter, measured as depicted in the diagram above
Number Of Turns: Enter the number of turns
Conductor Length: The conductor length is shown for your convenience
How To Calculate Resonant Frequency: This feature displays a live example of how to calculate the resonant frequency of a coil using the figures that you enter
The results are calculated and updated automatically as you enter different numbers or change between the input fields. If the calculated result hasn’t updated after you’ve finished entering your values, click or tap on the result.
